This is the longest circuit offered by Pélican Safari Tour.
The day begins along the coast traveling south and passing through the historical town of Pointe-Noire. With stops along the route to learn about the history of Guadeloupe, you will be able to admire typical Creole architecture and traverse banana, coffee and cocoa plantations, as well as fields of flowers and tropical plants. Discover the tropical forests, rivers and waterfalls throughout your journey and walk over a suspended bridge in the middle of the jungle in the center of the National Park, Le Parc National de la Guadeloupe.
As you get closer to La Soufrière volcano, you will notice the forest become more dense and the forest colors glimmering. In the horizon, you can admire the islands of Marie Galante, Les Saintes and Dominica. The morning finishes on the black sand beaches before eating lunch in a restaurant with a spectacular view of Les Saintes.
To get the most out of your excursion, Pélican Safari Tour provides an excellent balance and presentation of nature, history and culture. After lunch, you will visit archeological sites with rock carvings by some of the first inhabitants of Guadeloupe, the Amérindiens, as well an old dwelling and historical ruins. We will also take you on off the beaten paths to see panoramic views of fields of pitaya (dragon fruit) and coffee. You will also have the pleasure of touring the plantation of a local coffee producer in Baillif, where you can taste and buy some of the rarest and finest coffee in the world: Guadeloupe Bonifieur.
This excursion will take you to off the beaten path providing you with the unique opportunity to visit places that most tourists cannot access. From the hilltops of Basse-Terre island to the cost of the Caribbean Sea, your end up sitting in the natural hot springs of Bouillante to watch the sun set, including a visit to the “Bain du Curé” on the beach of Anse à Sable. Return to Deshaies as the light glimmers over the ocean with images and memories of the day in your head.
