the plains of North Basse Terre

ALL OF OUR EXCURSIONS DEPART FROM DESHAIES

From 65€ per person

Departing from the port of Deshaies, your adventure begins north along the coastline between Deshaies and Sainte-Rose on off-road trails. Once in Sainte-Rose, you can admire the magnificent Grand-Cul-de-Sac Marin, a 15,000 hectare bay and UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. During the trip, you will visit the historical Pointe Allègre, where the first French settlers arrived in Guadeloupe in 1635. From the hilltops, you will admire Grande-Terre island and the majestic cliffs of Anse-Bertrand.

Afterwards, you travel into the heart of Guadeloupe’s National Park, Le Parc National de la Guadeloupe, to revel in its tropical forests, rivers and waterfalls. If we are lucky, we may run into wild raccoons. Immerse yourself in a contrast of colors, from the red soil of the land, the dense green vegetation and the sparkling bleu of the lagoons of the Grand-Cul-de-Sac Marin. This excursion takes you across the center of Basse-Terre on the Parc National called La Route de la Traversée, with lush vegetation and remarkable panoramic views. You will be able to immerse yourself in the grandness of the forest with the scents of the tropics blowing by while feeling the coolness under a tree canopy of the large Caribbean trees, such as acajou and acomat boucan,

In the afternoon, your guide will drive south along the coastal roads of the Caribbean Sea. With stops at key points along the way, you will have the opportunity to take beautiful photos and appreciate the panoramic scenic views. Upon reaching the town of Bouillante, you will relax in natural hot springs while watching the sun set over the sea. You will then head back to Deshaies accompanied by the remaining glow of the sun.
